Hever Triathlon - we came, we swam, we conquered
It was a momentous occasion, billed by its organisers as the UK’s third largest triathlon, the largest children’s triathlon and the finale of the UK triathlon season.
What they failed to mention was that it was also the debut event for the two Ide Hill Pre-School relay teams and their legions of dedicated supporters!
Andrew Hodge and Ciaran Corcoran took to the water first, completing the 1.5km swin in Hever lake. They passed the now soggy baton (in the form of a timing chip) to Lucy Williams and Matt Wood who shot off for their 40km cycle around Hever and beyond, before Martin Snary and Tim Peel finished it all off with a 10km run around Hever Castle’s grounds.
As you’ll probably know already, we hit our £1,000 target, but there’s still time to donate, by going to our donation page.
Yes it was lots of fun, and everyone who was there for the Pre-school, either spectating or competing, had a wonderful day – thanks in no small part to the glorious sunshine.
But there was a serious message part, and that was to raise much-needed funds for the Pre-School. This money will go towards our planned new outdoor shelter, but we need to continue to raise money throughout the year to fund other projects. Read more about what we’ve got planned, and why, in the fundraising article.
