Make fundraising count
To put it simply, we need to raise extra funds each year to keep the pre-school going. The fees we receive (both from parents paying direct and for those funded by Kent County Council) do not cover our running costs.
It’s not that we’re spending extravagantly – we keep a very tight control on all our costs. But it is expensive to operate a pre-school, especially one that prides itself on offering its children a diverse range of activities, with access to a good range of play and learning equipment.
We are also incredibly lucky to have a team of highly qualified staff. They are the real key to the pre-school’s success, and so it’s only right they receive the recognition, pay and training opportunities they deserve.
While we may have a shortfall each year (around £5,000 last year) we are in a strong position. For a start we have a good chunk of money in the bank to cover any losses. But it’s not an infinite pot of money.
Our other great resource is our reputation, which means we can be sure, or as sure as you ever can be, that we’ll continue to attract children through the door in the future.
But we do need to bridge that shortfall, which is where fundraising comes in. We’ve got some exciting plans for the year, so please do get involved with our plans.
Whether it means buying an extra cake at the Easter Fayre, donating a prize for the Christmas raffle, bringing in a sack of old clothes for our ‘Phil the Bag’ fundraiser, or simply making a one-off donation, every little will help us to make sure the pre-school can go from strength to strength.
